Apply and Register for Classes at SBCC

IMPORTANT UPDATES

Take advantage of the course offerings at SBCC to help you reach your goals.  The opportunities at SBCC are limitless as long as you follow the procedures set forth by the college.  Find the current online schedule here. Please note that some courses are restricted to high school students (view FAQ for details).

How can I take classes at SBCC?

Step 1: Meet with your high school counselor

Your counselor will help you find a class that meets your needs and interests.

Step 2: Apply to SBCC

Apply to the college online here.  Please review our application guide to answer application questions accurately. NOTE: If you are currently taking an SBCC class, your application is still valid for the following term and you can skip this step.

Step 3: Find your SBCC ID or K#

Go to Pipeline, the online student portal, and follow the prompts to 'Find Account.' You will need the last four digits of your social security number or your CCCID. Your parent will need your K# to complete step 4. Where is my CCCID?  Where is my K#?

Step 4: Submit online forms

4A. Parents must click the link to complete an online Parent Consent Form* (forma en español). This form grants parent approval for the duration of the student's high school years and can be rescinded at any time. The student K# is required to complete this form (see step 3 above). To check whether a parent consent form is on file, please log into your pipeline account and check the Student--Registration tab. *Please allow 5-7 business days for PCF processing.

4B. Students must get high school counselor approval to request courses. To submit the Approval Form* students will need their pipeline username/password and high school counselor's email address. If you are a student and ready to submit the Approval Form click here. To look up a counselor's email address, check our High School Contacts page or visit your school website. For a step-by-step guide to the approval form click here. *Please allow 5-7 working days to process the counselor approval. See our FAQ page for a guide on how to check if a course approval has been processed by SBCC.

Incoming 9th graders: Students who want to take a class the summer after their 8th grade year will need to print the 8th Grade Dual Enrollment Approval Form HERE. Complete the form and have it signed by your Junior High counselor and your future High School counselor. The online-only Approval form does not apply to incoming 9th graders. Please allow 5-7 business days for Approval Form processing from the time counselor approves. Note that if your Parent Consent form is not on file your Approval Form will not be processed.

4C. High School Counselors outside of the SBUSD and CUSD districts or Home-School counselors have to complete the Out-of-Area Counselor Approval Request in order to be able to approve a student Approval Form. *Please allow 5-7 business days for processing.

Step 5: Register for classes

Note the open registration date for all students. This is the first opportunity to register for your class and secure your spot. Check your class schedule for critical drop dates. **Be sure to check your course for any prerequisites. Prerequisites must be met before the system will allow you to register. Click here for information on meeting prerequisites. Find your class in the online class schedule here.

Step 6: Pay fees

Pay any mandatory fees (transportation, health) within seven days of registering for the class to avoid being dropped. Dual enrollment students do not pay the per unit enrollment fee if they enroll in less than 12 units. For classes taken at the main campus, only mandatory health, transportation, and student rep fees apply. Online classes only require a health fee. Click here for fee information.

Step 7: Buy books

Book and supply costs vary per class. Look up required texts and materials at the SBCC Bookstore. Please note purchase return deadlines on your receipt.

Step 8: Check your pipeline email

All official campus correspondence goes to your Pipeline email account. If you have another primary email, please forward your SBCC email using this tutorial.
